An aside: a different kind of toy

The privacy toys are small on purpose: one app, one job, nothing sent anywhere you didn’t ask for. But some privacy problems don’t fit in a single app. Who holds your identity, your passwords, your keys, and who gets to see your messages are questions about infrastructure.
That’s what VettID is for. It’s a different kind of toy:
- A personal vault you own. Credentials, secrets, connections and AI-agent permissions live in your vault and act only on your say-so.
- Run by a member-governed organization, not a company that makes money from your data.
- Built so the operator can’t peek. Vaults run in hardware-isolated enclaves (AWS Nitro), apps can verify the exact code they’re talking to, and messages use end-to-end encryption with a post-quantum hybrid key exchange. The infrastructure only ever handles encrypted data.
- Useful day to day: encrypted messaging and calls, proving things about yourself (like being over 18) without handing over the details, a password and API-key store on your phone, and letting AI agents use a secret without ever seeing it.
It isn’t open yet. Membership is opening soon, and there’s a waitlist at vettid.org if you’d like to hear when it is.
Back to the small toys next time.
